New Money to Boost Balance Sheet
Edtech unicorn Vedantu raised $11 million from existing investors in an ongoing fundraise, issuing convertible securities. This is part of a larger fundraising exercise when the company is also expected to make arrangements for a secondary sale of shares, offering an exit opportunity for early investors as well as foreign investors.
Strong Financial Rebound in FY25
The Bengaluru startup has registered healthy financial rebound during the last one year.In Q4 FY25, Vedantu has shown collections of around ₹90 crore, 67% year on year growth, and also generated free cash flow of around ₹6 crore.
Combined for the whole financial year, Vedantu collections totaled ₹284 crore, up by almost 55% compared to the previous year. Crucially, Vedantu lowered its cash burn rate by almost 30%, offering evidence of a definitive path towards sustainable growth.
Sustained Growth in FY26 till Now
The surge has extended to the April–June quarter of FY26 as well, with Vedantu recording collections of close to ₹110 crore in the quarter, historically its seasonally highest. Vedantu has now been cash-flow positive for six months on the trot, which indicates healthiness in a period when most of its peers in the edtech space have been grappling with profitability.

Strategic Deployment of Funds
Vedantu plans to invest the new capital across different growth areas. These include inorganic and organic category growth, investment in AI and adaptive content, and testing out hybrid models of learning. Vedantu is also growing its presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where demand for cost-effective, affordable online education is rising consistently.
Road to IPO
The fresh infusion is also being seen as a part of Vedantu’s long game to prepare itself for a public listing, which is planned around 2027. By cleaning up its cap table and shoring up its balance sheet, Vedantu wishes to present itself as a stable, profitable edtech entrant ready for the public markets.
Outlook
The $11 million internal funding round is proof of belief in the turnaround story of Vedantu. While the broader edtech sector in India is undergoing consolidation and lower funding flows, Vedantu’s strong unit economics and growth strategy place it among the healthier players in the segment.
