Rakesh Verma, Chairman and Managing Director of MapmyIndia, announced, “In August 2025, we entered into a strategic business agreement with Zepto, a leading quick commerce company, where MapmyIndia SDK and APIs are utilised to enhance their customer and delivery experience.” He further added, “We acquired shares in a secondary sale from a foreign investor of Zepto at a pre-money valuation of $5.8 billion, infusing a total capital of 25 crore.”
Strategy to make Zepto a domestic company
Aadit Palicha, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Zepto, through its strategic fundraising, aims to increase the Indian shareholders’ stake of 8%–10% to the existing 28% of the company. In late 2024, Palicha also stated his intentions, “That’s our ambition and objective (to become an Indian company), capital markets may change, but for now we’re optimistic if the business continues to perform as well, that we will go public in calendar 2025.” Zepto plans to submit the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) to SEBI in 2025 and get listed in 2026, due to
- a net loss of ₹1,248.6 crore and revenue decline of 28% in FY24.
- aggressive deploying cash for operational costs and to scale up Zepto Café.

Zepto’s expansion blueprint
At present, Zepto is opting for private fundraising of $700-$800 million to strengthen its financials before the public listing. As its competitors, Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, Flipkart Minutes, who have built strong public presence, Zepto is navigating a competitive and fast-evolving e-commerce market.
MapmyIndia contributed ₹25 crore to Zepto and took 0.049% equity. Earlier, Elcid invested 7.5crore in Zepto and assumed ownership of a 0.039% stake in the company. Palicha feels that the quick e-commerce market is huge, and according to Bernstein, it has the potential to grow 75-100% annually. CareEdge Analytics & Advisory also suggested, “The Indian quick commerce market gross order value is poised for exponential growth, nearly tripling from an estimated ₹64,000 crore in FY25 to around ₹2 lakh crore by FY28.” With only 1% of the market currently tapped, Zepto’s profitability appears promising. Palicha plans to position the business for long-term sustainable growth, which will require ongoing investments over the forthcoming years.
